چکیده

In our work, we consider the time dependent Stokes equation on a finite time interval and on a uniform rectangular mesh, written in terms of velocity and pressure. For this problem, a parallel algorithm based on a novel direction splitting approach is developed. Here, the pressure equation is derived from a perturbed form of the continuity equation, in which the incompressibility constraint is penalized in a negative norm induced by the direction splitting. The scheme used in the algorithm is composed of two parts: (i) velocity prediction, and (ii) pressure correction. This is a Crank-Nicolson-type twostage time integration scheme for two and three dimensional parabolic problems in which the second-order derivative, with respect to each space variable, is treated implicitly while the other variable is made explicit at each time sub-step. In order to achieve a good parallel performance the solution of the Poison problem for the pressure correction is replaced by solving a sequence of one-dimensional second order elliptic boundary value problems in each spatial direction. The parallel code is implemented using the standard MPI functions and tested on two modern parallel computer systems. The performed numerical tests demonstrate good level of parallel efficiency and scalability of the studied direction-splitting-based algorithm.

Pareto-based Multi-criteria Evolutionary Algorithm for Parallel Machines Scheduling Problem with Sequence-dependent Setup Times

This paper addresses an unrelated multi-machine scheduling problem with sequence-dependent setup time, release date and processing set restriction to minimize the sum of weighted earliness/tardiness penalties and the sum of completion times, which is known to be NP-hard. A Mixed Integer Programming (MIP) model is proposed to formulate the considered multi-criteria problem. Also, to solve the mo...

An Effective Hybrid Genetic Algorithm for Hybrid Flow Shops with Sequence Dependent Setup Times and Processor Blocking

Hybrid flow-shop or flexible flow shop problems have remained subject of intensive research over several years. Hybrid flow-shop problems overcome one of the limitations of the classical flow-shop model by allowing parallel processors at each stage of task processing. In many papers the assumptions are generally made that there is unlimited storage available between stages and the setup times a...

A comparison of algorithms for minimizing the sum of earliness and tardiness in hybrid flow-shop scheduling problem with unrelated parallel machines and sequence-dependent setup times

In this paper, the flow-shop scheduling problem with unrelated parallel machines at each stage as well as sequence-dependent setup times under minimization of the sum of earliness and tardiness are studied. The processing times, setup times and due-dates are known in advance. To solve the problem, we introduce a hybrid memetic algorithm as well as a particle swarm optimization algorithm combine...
